Meral Turan Akırmak

Meral Turan Akırmak holds a BSs degree in Environmental Engineering and has 20+ years of professional experience mainly focusing on sustainability reporting, environmental regulations and management, decarbonization & climate strategies. She worked for automotive companies such as Ford Otosan and Uzel Makina. In addition to that, she has work experience in the beverage sector (Anadolu Efes). She also worked as the sustainability and environmental coordinator at the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD). During that time, she was responsible for following up and reporting on the EU’s legislations such as CSDDD, ELV, EUDR, CBAM, CSRD, REACH, Batteries Directives. She also participated in related governmental projects, strategy workshops and conferences as a representative of the automotive industry. She initiated and implemented two consolidated sustainability reports of the Turkish automotive industry in line with GRI standards. Now she lives in the Netherlands and works freelance.
